Screens, Lighting & Add-Ons

The comfort layer that turns a structure into a destination.

A great pergola is the architecture. The comfort layer — screens, fans, lighting, heaters, and finishing details — is what makes the space usable across the full Florida calendar.

What we add

The finishing layers that complete a space.

Motorized Retractable Screens

Insect screens, solar shade screens, and weather-rated wind screens that disappear into ceiling cassettes when not in use. Smartphone, remote, and smart-home control. Sized to opening, color-matched to the structure.

Architectural Lighting

Layered low-voltage outdoor lighting with task, ambient, and accent zones — each on its own dimmer. 2400–2700K LED, sealed for outdoor use, stable color over time. Designed scene by scene, not fixture by fixture.

Ceiling Fans

Damp- and wet-rated outdoor fans, sized to airflow demand and structure span. The single most effective comfort upgrade under a covered patio in Florida.

Heaters

Integrated infrared electric heaters mounted to pergola or pavilion ceilings — reclaims the cooler South Florida winter evenings without the bulk of standalone gas heaters. Runs cleanly with minimal maintenance.

Privacy Walls

Slatted aluminum or wood-grain aluminum privacy walls — for screening adjacent properties, defining outdoor zones, and creating intimate seating areas without losing airflow.

Audio & Smart Home Integration

Weatherproof in-ceiling and rock-form outdoor speakers, scene control for lighting and pergola operation, integration with common smart-home platforms.

Retrofit vs. new build

Add to an existing structure — or build it in from day one.

Most of these comfort additions can be retrofit to an existing covered patio, pergola, or pavilion. The result is often the highest-leverage upgrade you can make per dollar spent — particularly motorized retractable screens and architectural lighting.

If you're planning a new pergola or pavilion, design the comfort layer into the structure from day one. Wiring runs, screen tracks, fan mounts, and heater locations are dramatically cleaner when pre-planned.

High-impact retrofit

Three upgrades clients tell us made the biggest difference.

  • ·Adding motorized retractable insect screens to an existing covered patio.
  • ·Replacing builder-grade lighting with layered low-voltage architectural lighting.
  • ·Adding a properly sized outdoor fan under a covered patio that didn't have one.
